Comic Book Review: Superior Issue Three

Writer: Mark Millar
Artist: Leinil Yu

Everyone should know that Mark Millar has been writing great comic books such as (Kick-Ass, Nemesis, Old Man Logan). Superior is turning out to be another one of his next master pieces. The writing is only as good as the art and artist Leinil Yu does a fantastic job in this issue.

In this issue we see Superior saving peoples live on a space station that is falling down towards New York. He saves them. We are introduced to a new character, Madeline Knox, and boy is she SEXY. We get to learn that she is a TV anchor at an NY based news station. This makes me think that there might be a Louis Lane similarity will appear. Throughout the comic we see him helping out crisis's through out NY. I have to give a lot of credit to Yu, this book is just beautiful to look at. Even though Superior has been saving lives throughout the book, but he is still having an issue figuring out how he got his powers and how he is going to explain it to his Mom so she doesn't freak out. In the end of this issue we get to see him go through an emotional roller coaster that is now his life and from the looks of things its going to be one BIG and BUMPY ride. You can count me in to see how this ride goes.

Final Verdict: This book is AWESOME!. I recommend that you buy issues 1-3 asap. This is a great read for all ages. This story kind of reminds me of the movie BIG, but it's a lot better then BIG in my opinion. I give this 10 out of 10.  Oh and if you like evil monkeys you should buy this now.

TV Show Review: Undercovers episode 11: The Key to it all

I guess I was wrong. J.J Abram's TV Show series Undercovers isn't over yet. My bad, sorry everyone, I thought it was over. I'll let you know when the last episode comes out.

In this episode we see Steven and Samantha having to leave there romantic get away in Greece to go to Tel Aviv so that they can rescue the civilians that are being kept captured in a hotel. Bill Hoyt helps them on there mission to rescue the hostages. They go undercover to begin their mission but realize it was more then what they were expecting. Sorry for the short review, but I want you to watch this episode. Yes it was that good, that I made this review very short one :)

Final Verdict: I was happier watching this episode then the one before. It ended with a great cliff hanger. I can't wait for the next episode. I give this 10 out of 10.

Comic Book Review: The Avengers Issue Eight

Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: John Romita Jr.

In this issue of The Avengers we learn more about the fight between the Red Hulk vs Parker Robbins. Iron Man, Mister Fantastic, Doctor Strange, Prince Namor, Charles Xavier, and Medusa all gather up in one of Stark's Enterprises Subsidiary. They discuss about how they are going to find the person that stole the yellow reality gem and the red power gem. The red gem got stolen from Mister Fantastic and the yellow gem got stolen from Black Bolt. There are six gems, and they are called the "infinity gems", they are "items of incredible power over time and space". Now this issue pretty much ends with them going to Attilan. It is the home of Medusa's city, but it is also known as the Himalayas. As they are searching in the city grounds they are confronted by The Avengers. To be continued.....

Final Verdict: This issue was AWESOME!! I recommend that you buy issues 1-8, you will not regret it. John's art is just gorgeous to look at. Bendis will boggle your mind with his amazing writing. I give it 10 out of 10.

Comic Book Review: Nemesis Issue 4

Writer: Mark Millar
Artist: Steve McNiven

Millar and McNiven did an excellent job in this issue. It took a while for this fourth and final issue to come out, but it was worth the wait. As you all should know this four issue comic series is going to be turned into a movie. There has been no release date for the movie yet, no actors have been cast yet. So I'll update you on that as soon as I know.

Ever since Nemesis left Japan and came to America he has been just plain evil and crazy. He's been nothing but a nuisance to Chief Marrow. That probably does not explain him enough since in the past four issues he has killed thousand of innocent people, blown up a prison, captured the Chief's children and pretty much abolished his family. This guy is most likely the most maniacal super villain that you will ever read.

So in this issue Chief Marrow thinks that he knows everything about Nemesis. So he and his crew go in a helicopter heading to where they think Nemesis's hiding place is. When they get there, part of Marrow's crew is outside of Nemesis hideout and the other part of his crew are inside the house looking to kill Nemesis. They don't get that, they are confronted with a fat man tied to a bed and he has a bomb strapped onto himself. BOOM!! The house explodes and Marrow falls to the ground losing consciousness. He wakes up to find out that he is in the Oval Office with Nemesis who admits that Stuart (Marrow's best police officer) was an inside man for the past eight years. Nemesis then goes on a big lecture on how he is not a guy seeking revenge for his deceased parents, he is just a bored rich guy who likes to bring convulsion and misery to his targets.

Then Nemesis reveals his surprise to Marrow. It's his wife and the President of the United States strapped to bomb vest, he has to decide who lives or dies in 30 seconds. This President is very quick witted, instead of him crying like a little baby, he goes and gets close to Nemesis. Marrow sets off the Presidents bomb vest so he can kill Nemesis. You may be thinking that was kind of corny but it was actually really cool seeing that President being very brave. Nemesis survived the explosion, I bet you weren't expecting that. Well Marrow and Nemesis have there final fight between them. Nemesis gets shot in the head, while Marrow gets shot in the chest. Pretty much at the end of the comic we see that Marrow survived and that Nemesis is dead :( . There is a bit more to the story, but I do not want to spoil it for you. Just to let you all know there will be a Nemesis sequel, which I am really excited for.

Final Verdict: This last issue was amazing. It is a must read. I recommend that you either wait for the trade (Volume 1) or get each individual issue NOW, you will not regret it. Miller's writing in this issue is excellent. McNiven art is gorgeous to look at. I cannot wait to see this being turned into a movie. I give this 10 out of 10

Manga Review: Fairy Tail ch.216 "The Essence if Magic"

If you have been reading the manga version of Fairy Tail, there is a surprise at the end of this chapter that I think that you will like. It's a short chapter, it is only 20 pages. If you have just started reading Fairy Tail, then let me review this chapter for you.

In this chapter of Fairy Tail you see Master Makarov (Guild master of Fairy Tail) is having an intense fight with his old master Hades (he's in a Dark Guild). The fight between them is really cool to watch. While that is going on Hades's seven Kin of Purgatory are attacking the other members of Fairy Tail and destroying Fairy Tail Island as well. Hades gives Makarov a fatal death blow, right through his stomach. The chapter ends when we see that he is dyeing and is giving off his will to his son, Laxus (surprise, he's back).

Final Verdict: This chapter was a lot of fun to read. I liked the fighting sequence between between Makarov and Hades. It's sad to see that Markarov is dyeing, he's one of my favorite characters in Fairy Tail. I hope that he will be alive in the next chapter, even though it shows that he is dyeing in this chapter. I give this 9 out of 10.

Manga Review: Air Gear ch. 299

If your new to Air Gear, and if this is the first chapter that you are starting to read about Air Gear, then let me review this chapter for you. We are still learning about Kaito's Wanijima and Gazelle's past history together.

We start off with this chapter by the two evil twins (who are in a helicopter) pursuing Gazelle and Kaito's Air Tach (AT) armor. They think that Gazelle and Kaito are in there. The location that they are in is the Glacial Zone that connects Russia and Japan. The armor lands on a floating ice berg and turns around and shoots the helicopter. The helicopter crumbles to a million pieces, but the two twins are still alive and they are flying towards Gazelle and Kaito. They open the hatch to the armor and find explosives. All of a sudden BOOM goes the armor and the two evil twins. We see that Kaito has used a sniper gun (I don't know the exact name for that gun). Gazelle and Kaito are on a boat far away from the explosion that just happened. They are both relieved that they had killed there enemy. But that moment doesn't last a long time because the two evil twins are back in full force. The chapter sadly ends by, Kaito deciding to kill herself because she doesn't want to give herself up to the two evil twins that want to take her "wings" away from her.

Final Verdict: This chapter was very entertaining to read. It was sad to see that Gazelle shot herself. I am excited for the next chapter. I give this 9 out of 10

Anime Review: Fairy Tail episode 60

If you have been watching this anime you should know already that this event has already happened in the manga version of Fairy Tail. If you have not then keep on reading....

In this episode of Fairy Tail we see that Jellal has created a self-destruction magic circle on Nirvana and himself. Erza, who is friends with Jellal, is shocked that he would do something like that. Brain comes to release self-destruction seal off of Nirvana so that he can keep  Nirvana for himself. Now you might be wondering, what is Nirvana? Well it is the ultimate weapon that destroys light, aka an evil walking old city that has eight legs and can kill anything in its path. Brian and his goons have complete control over Nirvana. As Nirvana was rising from the ground Natsu, Happy, Lucy, Windy, Gray, Jellal, Erza, and Carla get picked up by it. They are the only ones that can destroy Nirvana and Brains goons. The episode ends with Nirvana heading to Caitshelter, which is the first guild that they are going to destroy and Natsu and Happy are fighting Cobra and his snake/dragon while in the sky.

Final Verdict: I thought this episode was really good. I am excited to see how Natsu and his friends will take down Brain and Nirvana, even though I have already seen it in the manga. The next episode should be a lot of fun. I give this 10 out of 10.

TV Show Review: Undercovers episode 10: Funny Money

Sadly this J.J Abrams show has been cancelled. This is and will be the last episode of this TV series.

The story for this episode is about how Steven and Samantha needing to get stolen American currency plates before they are used to make counterfeit money. They go to Yassou, Cyrusa and Croatia to find the bad guys that have stolen the plates. We get to see an old friend of Stevens, Gary. They were really good friends once but now they don't like each other. Through out the show they argue a lot saying like "you should be working behind a desk not in the field" Lizzy who is Samantha's  decides to travel Europe with her boyfriend and his band, instead of being the new catering manager.

Final Verdict: This was good but not a great episode for me. It's too bad that this show is being cancelled. J.J can't be the best at everything he does, right? He will have to learn from his mistakes. I give this 8 out of 10

Movie Review: True Grit

Jeff Bridges-Rooster Cogburn
Matt Damon-LaBeouf (Texas Ranger)
Josh Brolin-Tom Chaney
Hailee Steinfield-Mattie Ross

This movie was really good. I thought it was very entertaining to watch. I have not seen the original film of this movie and this is the first Coen brothers film I have seen. Now I got that out of the way lets continue.

"Nothing free except the grace of God"

Steinfield playing Mattie Ross was great. She was very quick witted, self confident and could stand up for herself. This is her first time being in a classic movie that was being re-imagined by the Coen's. So that means that there are a lot of expectations from fans and critics. Bridges is playing a role that John Wayne used to play, U.S Deputy Marshall Rooster Cogburn. Watching Bridges playing Rooster was hillarious, and amazing entertainment. One of the funniest moments was when Rooster and LaBeouf were shooting rice biscuits in the air so that one of them could claim that they were a better shooter then the other one. Damon playing as LaBeouf did a great job. Seeing him and Bridges act together was really cool. I liked when LeaBouf shoots one of Chaney's goons from a far distance to save Cogburn. I know that Brolin has been in other movies such as (American Gangster and No Country for Old Men) but he did a great job being the bad guy, Tom Chaney.

At first Rooster and LaBeouf were partners and they were going to go look for Chaney with Ross, but LaBeouf would always argue with Rooster and he would leave the group. This happened a couple of times in the movie. He eventually stayed with Rooster and Mattie. The chemistry that Ross has between LaBeouf and Rooster, makes me feel like she is already an experienced actor even though this is her first major role.

Final Verdict: True Grit was very entertaining. If you are a fan of this classic movie some people might say "prepare yourself for a different version of True Grit." If you have not seen the original and are about to go see this movie then I say go for it! It's worth spending the money. I hope this will go for an Oscar. It will be interesting to see the next role that Steinfield will be in. I give this 10 out of 10.

Anime Review: One Piece ep. 481 "Ace Rescued! White Beards Final Order!"

In this episode of One Piece, Luffy has freed his brother Ace from getting executed at the Navy's Head Quarters (HQ). The war between the White Beard Pirates (good guys) and the Navy (bad guys) is still going on while Luffy saved his brother. Now Luffy and Ace are trying to get away from the Navy's HQ, so that they don't die. But the Navy's soldiers and and admirals try to stop them. There is a lot of fighting that you see from Luffy and Ace. Ace is one of my favorite characters, so seeing him fight again was awesome. You get to see some flash backs of when Luffy and Ace were children. There are a couple of minutes when you get to see Captain Buggy and his pirates, he wants to kill White Beard, but he doesn't....yet. All of a sudden a pirate ship is heading towards the Navy's HQ, it's Squard and his Whirl Spider Pirates. He tells everyone to leave and leave the rest of the fighting to him and his pirates. But White  Beard stops the ship with one hand and gives his final order to all of his pirates. He pretty much says that he wants everyone to split up and survive at any cost to go back to the "New World" safely. The episode ends by him doing a massive attack on the Navy's HQ and showing us without actually telling us that he is going to die soon.

Final Verdict: This episode of One Piece was awesome. It will be sad to see White Beard die, he is an amazing character to watch. I can not wait for the next epic episode of One Piece. I give it 10 out of 10.

Manga Review: One Piece chapter 609

This Christmas chapter of One Piece was really good. Now if you have been reading One Piece you should know what is happening in the story. If you just began reading One Piece then let me review it for you.

In this chapter Luffy, Sanji, Chopper, and Usopp are in the Ryuuguu Kingdom in Fishman Island. They are with Keimi and her friends. They met Keimi two years ago. Luffy wants to see Jinbe, but Kemi mentions to him that due to the effects of the war he had to leave Fishman Island. A ship known as the Royal Gondola carries the three Princes of Neptune's House to where Luffy crew mates and Keimi and her friends are at (the princes are all brothers). The three brothers ask Keimi and her friends if they have seen Luffy and any of his crew members. They said no to them, so the three brothers leave. As they are leaving Sanji makes them loose there cover by his nose bursting out so much blood that it turns into a woman. The three brothers and their crew turn back and find out that Luffy and his crew are actually there. Chopper (he's the doctor of the crew) is yelling out that they need blood type RH to save Sonji. Hammond (he's a bad guy) tells them that "it's to share blood with humans!!!" So then that start taking Luffy and his crewmates by force, but Luffy kicks there buts and beat them to the ground. All of a sudden Kemi is telling them to get on the Ryuugu (which she stole from the princes') to get to the Town Port. They get on and head off to that location. We find out in the end of the chapter that the three princes' were not actually the bad guys, they were just trying to deliver a message from Jinbe to them. Woops! Just to let you all know the next chapter of One Piece will not be out next week, they are taking a break.

Final Verdict: This chapter left me off thinking, what is the message that Jinbe has for Luffy? Will Sanji survive? How are Luffy's other crew members doing? It was still very entertaining. I'm glad that there was a new chapter out this week. I give it 10 out of 10

TV Show Review: Human Target Season 2, Episode 6

This Christmas episode of Human Target was not good. The story for this episode was not up to par as I thought it was going to be. This episode was not as entertaining as the past episodes. I thought the relationship between between Joel and Jamie was very cheesy when we first see them together. Also, Chance and the rest of the group hate the suburbs. This episode was trying to be funny, but the writers failed at that. I just hope the next episode will be a lot better than this one.

I give this 6 out of 10.

Library 51

This is something new that I am trying. You might be thinking, "why isn't he doing what he said that he was going to do in his first post?" Well hear me out, I just want to give this a shot.

Now this post will be going to anyone that is interested in taking library 51. Also if being a librarian is what you want for a career then I definitely recommend that you should take this class. It is a library class that I took at City College of San Francisco. The teachers name is Mr. Kox. He is an awesome teacher, he has a great sense of humor, he is not strict at all. The homework that you get from him is very easy. There are not many quizzes that he gives you through out the semester. Also to my knowledge there were no test that he gave to the class, just the mid semester final and the end of the semester final. There were some group activities that we did in the class, he would hand out some books and we would have to put the books in alphabetical order by the authors last name. We got to learn different library catalogue websites to use if we ever need to find a book online. He uses his computer and screen and projector to show us how to use online library catalogues. It is important that you should take notes in his class because then it will help you prepare for his quizzes and finals. He will give you many handouts, I recommend that you keep them, especially the blue one that says "Library of Congress Classification System" that one will definitely help you out in his class. Another thing about his finals, you get to use your notes, which was a big help for me, and I hope that it will be for you. You will learn a lot in the first semester. It goes by really quick.

In conclusion, this class was a lot of fun. If being a librarian is what you want to become then this is the class that you should take.

Comic Book Review: Kick-Ass 2 #1

If you have read the first story of Kick-Ass, you will love where the story of Kick-Ass 2 #1 is going. Writer Mark Millar and John Romita Jr who is the artist are masters at there own craft.

What we see in this first issue is that Hit Girl (Mindy McCready) is training Kick Ass (Dave Lzewski) to become a better fighter. I am all for that because she fought amazing in Kick-Ass 1 (and when I saw her in the movie) so that's great that she is training him. Mindy is now living with her new father Marcus Williams who was friends with Mindy's father, (spoiler alert) he died in Kick Ass 1. She is also living with her mother. It good to see that she has a mom and dad, but it would of been interesting to see her living on her own since it seemed like from the previous book and the movie that she can take care of herself. Dave still has his two friends in high school. I just want to make it clear that Dave has a girlfriend in the movie version of Kick Ass "not" in the comic book version. Now back to this comic. Back in Kick Ass 1, Katie Deauxma got angry with him and she got one of her male friends to beat Dave up because he was pretending to be her gay friend so he could make out with her.  Now in this issue we still find out that he is still in love with Katie Deauxma, she is his "Mary Jane". Due to Mindy having a family she promised to her father "no more guns, mo more, masks, and no more secret training". So what is Dave left to do now that Mindy is not there to help him fight crime? Well the issue ends with him joining a group called "Justice Forever". So I think he will be just fine without Mindy, for a while.

Final Verdict: If you have not bought this comic yet, buy it now. The way Romita draws each character is outstanding. Millar's writing makes me excited for the next issue. I give this 10 out of 10

Welcome to my Blog

I would like to thank you. Yes you the viewer that is viewing my blog. Thank you for taking time out of your day to look at my blog. That means a lot for me. So thank you. To tell you the truth I do not know how long I will be doing this for. I'll stick to blogging as much as I can. For this blog that I am creating. I will be posting my own reviews in comics that I am reading (Marvel, DC Comics, Image Comics and many more), movies that I go see in theaters, TV shows, manga chapters from Naruto, Onepiece, Fairy Tail and Air Gear. Also, I'll review new technology (aka gadgets) and video games. I think those last two will not really work out for me, but they might. Sadly to my knowledge all of the very popular TV shows like Human Target, House, Lie to Me, Glee, Chuck, No ordinary Family, Modern Family, Community, The Office, 30 Rock, Stargate Universe, Saturday Night Live, The Walking Dead, Eureka and Caprica have all ended there seasons on TV and they will not be back till spring. If anyone would like to correct me on this please do so. I will review those shows when they start up again in the spring. I may add some new things as time goes by, but this is what its going to be for now. If you have any comments or advice or opinions on how to improve my blog, please let me know. If you have anything negative to say about my blog then I will take that as a way to improve my blog, my writing skills and myself. Thank you again for taking the time to look at my blog. Happy Holidays to everyone.
